Our research

Our laboratory focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms by which kidneys regulate ionic transport and adapt to the environment in order to match renal excretion to the daily intake.

Presently, our main projects concern

  • The maturation and trafficking of the Na/K/2Cl transporter in the thick ascending limb and its regulation and dysregulation in Bartter’s syndrome
  • The functional and structural characterization of Dent’s mutants of the CCL5 Na/Cl exchanger
  • The regulation of ion transport in the distal nephron by proteinase activated receptor 2
  • Sodium retention and edema formation in nephrotic syndrome
  • Potassium metabolism and its alteration during gestation and circadian cycle
  • Dysregulation of renal calcium transport during hypercalciuria and the pathophysiology of nephrocalcinosis
  • Homeostasis of the divalent cations, Ca2+ and Mg2+
  • The adaptive proliferation of epithelial tubular cells and homeostasis
